Sizing down a mixamo control rig

Hello everyone, Does anybody know how to size down a mixamo control rig?
I have a very small character<10 cms (for project reasons) and normally I would go to the basic tab and just make a custom size. Since this character is already rigged, whenever I use the mixamo template the size goes back to the default of 5 meters. Resizing the controllers afterward does not work out easily(or does not work at all).

if sizing down a mixamo control rig is not possible. is there a way to automatically snap all the components to a pre-existing joint hierarchy with a specific namespace? Similar to the automatic adjusting that happens when you hit “adjust” with the mixamo template?

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi hadyaymen,

Please check your Private messages here on Cineversity (top/middle). I have sent you an upload link.

I have a look at the file after it is uploaded to see what happens. I typically do not answer with guesses or assumptions. There is a reason, and I will try to find it.

Cheers

Hi hadyaymen,

Thanks for the file!

The problem starts with the scale of 0.03 of the Mixamo Rig.

This is super small.

The initial character size settings are not helping here at all.

Check this out with a copy:

Switch off the Skin-Object
Scale it back to 1
Scale the Mesh, so it fits the Mixamo Rig
Set Bind Pose (Attribute Manager> Weight Tag)
Skin-Object on again
Please both under a Null.
Call up a Character Object, place it under the Null as well.
Proceed with the Mixamo Rig set-up.
When all is done, set the Null to scale=0.03

All parts should now work correctly and in size fitting to the object.
Except the Wrist handles are too small. Mesh to invisible, and wrist handle in Object Mode>Scale to 200%, mesh visible again.

This is the only way I got it to work.

I hope that helps. Please test your rig carefully before going into production.

Alternatively, you could set up the character in “standard” size, then explore the options with Project>Scale

When the size is correct, import (merge) it into the scene you like.

Enjoy your project
