Hi pinareris,

Thanks for updating your own thread.

I was just ready with the recording of a short clip.
I guess if someone searches this, here is the way I do it. Yes, I know there is a plug-in for C4D, but this works better for me.

Thanks for the additional information, pinareris.

Before I say the following, let me admit that I often go the Photoshop route as well, using Ps since 1993 by now (version 2.5).

This is so far my impression – most artists do it this way. But I wanted to mention that for some work, BodyPaint 3D is just a click away from the standard interface in Cinema 4D.

Let me know if there is anything else. I’m happy to look into it.

Enjoy your weekend

I would suggest having a look into Sculpting, pinareris.

In BodyPaint 3D, you have no live feedback. Even you can paint into the Displacement channel. Sculpting can provide real-time feedback.
After the Sculpting, you need to bake the displacement map if the Displacement channel of the object is your target.
The beauty of this process is that you get a displacement map that can move points not only up and down, but the information is also able to a certain degree to move in all directions.
