C4d & Unity Tutorial help

Hello C4d friends,

I’ve gone through all of the C4d to Unity tutorials and have stumbled across a few questions:

1. I installed CV-SmartExport, and it does not appear under my extension menu.  Is it obsolete?

2. When I go File > Export > .fbx then import to Unity, I’m not getting any textures to convert whether or not I bake or embed them.  How can I easily do this?

3.  Is there an updated tutorial explaining C4d > Unity workflow?

Hi Andy.Man

1.
Since S24 allows Wavefront Objects to be exported as a sequence, what would you want to do with the CV-Smart Export?
https://help.maxon.net/c4d/s24/en-us/Default.htm#html/FOBJEXPORT2-OBJEXPORTOPTIONS_GROUP_ANIMATION.html?TocPath=Configuration|Preferences|Import/Export|OBJ Export|_____4

2.
Texture. Reload the FBX into Cinema 4D, and check in a new scene what is working or not. If it doesn’t work here, don’t bother with Unity until fixed.
In the Material, where the texture is supposed to be, you will find the first message of what went wrong. In the Project Asset Manager, you get the next clues.
My tip, create a project folder, have all your assets in this folder. If you import Assets into Unity, and the texture doesn’t show up, use the import assets function to load from this particular folder the texture. Typically it is instantly reconnected.

3 Not to my knowledge.

Unity is, as you know, a real-time engine. Which leads to a very picky behavior on how things have to be set up. I’m not an expert in Unity, but I always keep that in mind when doing something with it. It needs to have its way to work.

All the best

P.S.: If you have a question about a specific tutorial, use the help button. This is the only way a new thread should be started in that particular forum.
If you have more than one question, please use different threads as well, all of that, to keep the forum readable. Thanks for considering.

You’re very welcome, Andy.Man.

Fingers crossed that it works for you.

The Bake option allows you to re-size the texture, twirl it open to see if it fits. Perhaps try it without as well. You’re the judge of what looks better for your project

My best wishes for your project.
