trouble with hair

Hello, I’m having trouble rendering hair.  When I render to the viewport (ctrl + R), the hair is rendered correctly with respect to the uv normals of the plane it’s on.  But, when I render to the picture viewer (shift + R), the hair is rendered in reverse of the normals, no matter whether I’ve tried to reverse the normals or not.  My hair is green grass.  When I render view, the grass is growing out of the ground but when I render the grass to the picture viewer, the grass grows into the dirt.  I can’t figure out what I’m missing here and any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks,
- Mike

Problem solved: I just had to disable dynamics.  Of course I was seeing the hair/grass buried in the dirt by the time I got to that frame!  grin
