Hello,
Im trying to recreate cubes being emitter on a line that loops 240 frames. I have a file that loops but not sure how can I have variating speeds like how a emitter works. I cant get the loop blend to work. I tried making my comp larger and offset the loop but they dont match. I have a file set up that loops im trying to match the emitter way.
Thank you in advance
Marco

Hi Marco,

Thanks for the file

Sorry, that is not something that can be solved. Except the particles fade in and out during their travel or fake it.

If you have varying speeds inside of that, the time it takes to find a loop point will take very long.

That follows the “least common multiple” or LCM, with hundreds of particles and each perhaps in a different speed that will not fly with 240 frames or anything not significantly larger than that.

If you would have particles going through it with these four numbers (time to go through in frames) alone: 11 13 17 24, the LCM would be 58,344. Now take hundreds of them, and you get closer to infinity than to 240 frames.

You need to get groups to have a speed that is a pure fraction of 240 frames. The Rate is crucial here (no variations!). 100% means that it cycles per second one time. If you have 240 frames and a 24fps project, values of 10%, 20%, 40, and 50%, for example, will work. Note that frames zero and 240 will be the same! So, the project needs to be 0-239.
These can give the illusion of 240 frames looping while kind of having a varying speed. I left 240 in the example, so you can compare it.

Thank you so much for this and exampling it. Here is the image I was trying to recreate and learn how to do it looping and rotating on the Y axis. If I didnt have the rotation it would be easier to just render more frames maybe. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gnr6l070szss4c9/Example.png?dl=0

Thanks, Marco, for the image.

So, it is a loop that assembles a letter and then disintegrates the letters?

Cheers

that was the end result I didnt get that far after trying to figure out how to get the loop. I was thinking I can use a emitter behind it and use another way to create the letters like using a plane with segments and a cloner set to object on the plane with a volume effector to the letter shape.

Dr Sassi, I got another way to create the spline version. Check it out. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dywkt5s86059psj/MospineLoop.c4d?dl=0

Yes, Marco, you use the MoSpline as a Spline Generator.

Since you want to loop it, here is an idea to get more variety with it.

You’re very welcome, Marco.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

The idea was just to have two Cloner producing the same effect. The center of that idea was to have the movement and the distance of the two just the same. So it appears as if “one” dissolves and builds up at the same time.

Were are all in it for the visual magic, right? wink

Enjoy your weekend

Of coarse!!! I love the back and forth you get the kid out of me trying to create everything and thank you for making that come to life and also learning in the process.

Thanks a lot, Marco.

Yes, “the kid state” is the best place to get something done when we talk about creativity. It is the state that is called being-in-the-zone.

This happens when all criticism is stopped, and the technical stuff is pure muscle memory. If one is plagued with strong opinions or even “rules”, that will not fly. Not at all. An option is, anyway, no valid proof of intelligence.

We do brainstorming based on files, and you take it from where the file was left off. Bouncing each time upwards. YEAH!
Thanks for sharing that “creative state of a kid” with me. It is fun, I agree.

Enjoy
