I’m trying to recreate a cartoon character. I’m struggling a bit with the polygons, I can’t quite figure it out. Especially the shape of the head and fingers
I Cannot get the right shapes?
Would someone be able / willing to help me a bit?
Maybe polygon modeling is not the right way, then I would like to hear it!

Hi Annet,

Thanks for the file and for using Dropbox.

Let’s start with the fingers.

Please have a look here:

Let me know if that worked for you, then we take a look at the head.

Cheers

Thank you!
I’m going to work with it tomorrow, and when I have the fingers ready, I will come back (it’s not going so fast yet grin

The fingers worked out pretty well. I tried again for the head, but the symmetry seemed to get in the way.
I took it out, but I don’t know if that was the right thing to do (?).
Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi Annet,

My tip, have a closer look at the shape of his/her head. It is more like a capsule than a sphere. The “mouth” part is pretty much three times wider than the head. With that observation, perhaps draw the front and side view of the character. Ignore the hair for now.

I have tweaked it a little bit more:

I’m not sure how close I can go without running into copyright trouble, wink

Select the points on both sides you like to move, and then use the scale or the move tool.

Cheers

P.S.: I tried to send a one-minute clip to you, but my Cineversity message got bounced.
Did you get the clip?

In short, the face you like to model is pretty much two capsules (Y and X orientation), each the same size.

Since the character in question is a TV icon, I hesitate to post things like that publicly. (© etc.)

Let me know if the PM went through.
