Mograph shader - transforms bevel

Dear all!

I have a cube with a fillet of 2cm with 3 subdivisions.

This cube is in a cloner object with a mograph shader effector applied to it.
The effector animates the size of the cubes on the y-axis. Buuuuut this effect also transforms the height of the fillet.

i would like to keep my 2 cm fillet no matter what size the cubes become

any ideas?

Hi JanSidgwick,

Please have a look here:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/U6l4OR5mDskWqy5iW0wp0Y0EMaVyAowqcbirPNu4uae
I tested it as well with S.Y large only. It works in the same way.

Let me know if you need anything else; I’m happy to look into it. Please share an example then, so I can see all the parts of it.

All the best

yessss!!!! thankyou works fantastic <3

I have another question now that we’re at it smile the idea is that there is a floor and out of that floor are bars rising up and down.

The idea was that the floor opens up for the bars to come out and go back in again. now, i simply copied the cloner, increased the size of the bars a bit. and used a bool on the floor and larger bars to create the holes…

But probably there is a better solution for this.

For instance here i used pyramid to make the holes.

Hi JanSidgwick,

Thanks for the file. The first time I tried, I had to request access. But I never got an email as offered.

Anyway, Tonight, I tried again, and I was able to download the files. Always nice, thanks.

Here is my suggestion:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/4DFdX2sg7KFl29ekE482OykAlGV3pdMzTPiZ3gh25x2

One Cloner.0 is blending through five stages, whereby the parent Cloner.1 sorts between a static and the animated results of the child Cloner.0.

The Cloner.0 [child] is getting the Parameter> Modify Clone values from the Random Effector, but that could every Effector that has this option.

The Plain Effector sorts for the Cloner.1 via MG-Selection between the Static and the animated.

Perhaps there are some questions, please let me know. I’m happy to look into it.

My best wishes for your project.

Hello, i did reply on the e-mail to give to permission… Maybe it ended up in your spam?

This is amazing! I dont really understand the plain with the mograph selection part. for instance i’ve increased the number of clones in cloner 1. but as you can see the yellow bars dont multiply accordingly, probably this has to do something with the plain?

But i love that it has become something i should be able to art direct, instead of having to go through +12345 seeds wink

Sorry another question! One setback i have is that now all bars have the same height, is there a way to randomise the height of only the bars?

Maybe this also works with Another field with mograph selection? I’m not at home I’ll try later!

Hi JanSidgwick,

The Plain Effector works in the same way as the Random does. But limited to the clones that are in the MoGraph Selection.

Take a Cloner Object, place two different objects as a child under it. Set any number of clones.
Set the Attribute Manager Cloner> Mode to Sort.
Apply a Plain Effector to the Cloner. Switch off the Position. So, nothing will change.
Now, move the Attribute Manager> Parameter> Modify Clone to greater than 50% or directly to 100%.
All clones have switched.
If you use now the Main Menu> MoGraph> MoGraph Selection and “paint” over some of the little points/dots that are in the center of the clones. These are now stored as selected.
Place that MG-Selection into the Plain Effector> Effector> Selection
The change that you see is based on the Selection.
Now, move the Modify Clones Slider.

To explore this further, place more objects under the Cloner, move the slider again.

======

You can see, in the example from above, the exact amount of selected Clones (orange). This selection will not increase when you increase the number of clones. After all, this is a selection. Please have a look at the file below.

======

What is the reason to have the Bars in a different length? Do they move out of the holes at all?
Example with the longest bars in the middle

P.S. here is a file with different length, but set to blend. I have switched the Tubes off, so it is more obvious.

Hi JanSidgwick,

Sorry for the delay, but I’m on L.A. time.

Thank you very much for the image and for using Google as a cloud service.

As long as they don’t go above the surface, one can’t see if they are shorter or longer.
They could be all equally long and go just much more or much less up and down.

What do I miss?

All the best
