Hello, I have a custom CMotion setup which seems to be working correctly in line-mode but in path-mode, my rig quickly falls apart… I can’t seem to troubleshoot what’s going on. Is anyone able to spot what the problem is? is it something to do with my hierarchies or constraint tags?

Thanks so much for your help

Best

Thanks for the file, MB.

I think it is set up very well, with the parts I was able to see.

It looks all good here. I will not show my screen capture here, as I know what dramatic impact arachnophobia can have, even with only the hint left in your file.

What will not work, changing parameters manually during the walk. But that is not based on your setup that will not work in general, as the cycles will be compromised.

The path is a stress test for sure, well-chosen, and the legs have to have a dance to get these tight turns.

All the best

Thanks for looking at my file Dr. Sassi.

Forgive me, I’m not sure I understand your response, however. When I cycle the animation along even a simple path like a circle with a large radius some of the goals/controls begin to drift off course and away from the rig. Also, I referenced this tutorial by Jonas Pilz wherein he moves a CMotion spider along a reasonably tight curve without the kind of issues I’m seeing.. are you certain my rig is behaving as expected?

I have uploaded another file that contains the mesh, the problems I’m seeing may be more apparent to you this way.

Thanks again for your time.

Best MB

MB, you have set up the CMotion perfectly.

What screws the rig up is not in the CMotion settings.

The core joint of your rig is moved to the side, while anything else is not.

Please set up the Constrain PSR of the Thorax.Base to

Maintain Original: OFF

P.Z. to 12cm and R.H to 180ยบ

My best wishes.

P.S.: Since this was not a question about CMotion, I will move it to the Q&A forum.
