Hello Sassi - I hope you are doing well.

In the scene file below I have cloned some cubes and want them to fall inside the sphere so I can then apply some turbulence so they move around contained within the sphere.

https://1drv.ms/u/s!At7vaDNAUyZal19qMIp7bOVph3tH?e=qhujp8

When you click play in the scene file almost half of the cubes fall through the sphere. Now I have seen some tutorials on similar behaviour but still cannot fix it. I have played with:

1. Set the sphere to “Static Mesh”
2. Played with Collision Margin and Scale settings in Project settings

Is there anything else that needs tweaking?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

Shortened URL have lead to harm, as your content is easier to find and to compromise. I have sent you an upload link. Please note that I only touch DropBox, Amazon, Google, Wetransfer, Apple or Adobe cloud services. Anything else, including abbreviated or camouflaged URLs are not safe enough for me. Sorry about the extra work.
Think only about how many files I share, a few thousand per year, they need to be safe.

Please check your Private-Message here. Sorry that the Attachment here is obviously not working for you.

Cheers

P.S.:

Going by your description, is this close enough?

Project file

Let me know what needs to be changed. I’m happy to look into it.

Also, Attribute Manger> Mode> Project > Dynamics> Expert: Step per Frame.

Enjoy

Hi Sassi - thanks for your quick reply.

I used Microsoft OneDrive (hence the 1drv.ms domain in the URL) to share my project file which I hope Microsoft would be as trusted as Google, Dropbox etc for file sharing. But sure, I will use your listed cloud storage services in future.

I have uploaded my original scene via your Dropbox link. I looked at your scene file and you have interpreted my scene description pretty well. I just used thinner cubes on the Y axis.

So increasing the Steps per Frame to 35 does fix it. For peace of mind, would you agree with this value?

Thanks, David

Hi David,

I tested 35 with Turbulence, with otherwise default settings. I had some escape artists in the group, even with 35!

Here is your file back:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/BoIzZ9tEvTxW4HVBk8PFEpRaYSdJ7d2ZGttUoN1frU5

The main problem was the scale of the small parts. So I have set the
Attribute Manager> Mode> Project > Dynamics> Expert> Scale to 1cm

The Sphere’s segment amount is increased, but not mandatory.

Let me know if there is anything else; I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers

Thanks for the extra work. Since we have a new CEO, we have increased lots of security measures. So I will not be the one jeopardizing things.

Shortened URL placed in public can harm the owner’s data of the cloud space, hence why I would encourage you to not use it. Perhaps even delete it in the post.
I won’t argue that Microsoft might understand security or not. However, it is pretty clear that shortened URLs, as the 1drv.ms…, are much easier to crack. I would not touch them, even from the cloud services that I trust. I have stopped using those a decade or so ago.
https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2016/04/18/google-and-microsofts-shortened-urls-make-it-easy-to-spy-on-people/
Perhaps it is better now, but I really have problems to see the advantage of those short URLs at all.
I have to keep things safe here. That is my priority.

I already offer many options, and each added option puts more work on my plate to check periodically if there is trouble, and if I have to reduce the options is often difficult decisions. So far, in the past 16 years of my forums work, you are the first with an MS cloud. BTW, the file was small, so it could have been attached here. I will look into the MS option. I let you know, no promise, it just feels more like a business platform than a cloud service that artists would use, but that is my personal impression.

Thank you so much for your understanding. I’m always happy to send an upload link via PM, which is the safest way, as the URL is not shared publicly.

“Escape artists” - love the name smile

That’s great, thanks for sharing the additional tweaks, it’s working great now.

Have a good evening. David
