Creating this type of shape

Hello
I’m experimenting with methods of creating this type of shape
https://www.dropbox.com/s/q0acgwrkk6ovh48/2020-09-14_20h56_32.png?dl=0

My approach right now is to animate a simple plane with a single row of polys and trace that.  Using an align to spline I can add rotation and scaling to create interesting shapes.  It is however quite time consuming and not very procedural.  Would there be a better way to do something like that?

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

Please have a look here:

The Force Field hold a Random Field. This works with the MoSpline. The source Spline I have harvest from the Plane.

In the Random Field, you can adjust the effect. Please have a look at the high lighted parameters, which I think are the most essential for the outcome.
Scale: how fast the values changes, spatially, with that the details.
Animation Speed, how fast the shape changes.

Enjoy the exploration

P.S.: here is a slower version with a different way to render.

Fantastic, thanks Sassi!  Is there a way to create different noises?  I tried putting a shader field in the Field Force object, but didn’t get anywhere…

Thanks again!

You’re very welcome, Alex; thanks for the feedback.

Select Random Field in the Object Manager.
In the
Attribute Manager> Field> Noise Type, you will find more noise options. (Random Mode must be set to Noise to get this option)

I’m not sure if you get comparable results with the Shader Effector while using Noise based on a Shader.

Enjoy
