To create those, there are a few areas to know, like the S, C1, C2, R1, and R2 pre-set selections. (See Extrude>Selections)
Then how to set up gradients and perhaps pick the colors from a given image.
To know about projections and especially UV(W) mapping is helpful with no doubt.

If you create a UV Map, you could set all the colors in Photoshop. The example above used just Gradient shaders (plus the Layer).
I don’t see any need for light here. If you have a video clip, that might explain the requirements for light.
