Simple mosaic move.

Hi, running into a stumbling block on a simple move. Basically a mosic wipe (screen attachment) and the squares pop on in a direction with some randomness. This example screen shot has the “wipe” coming in from center with some randomness to it as it expands.
Used to be able to do this before with the older weight control in mograph, not seeing the right combination of fields to get this to happen now. Could be done in AE, but was hoping to go faster and have different versions of the wipe using 3D.
Thanks so much, Jon

Hi Jon,

Please have a look at the file below:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/M15YTAVNBRfPMB3IaWuJFedDjXRuWuXPjiqD9xwb0fE

It is not based on weight, but I hope it works for you.

This is based on the Freeze>Grow option, while the Radius of the Freeze to grow is determined by a Random (Subfield).

(In newer versions, the Weight-Workflow is not directly given. However, if absolutely needed, a Matrix Object can receive the Weight information from an Effector. This Matrix object can then be used in the Fields list to use these values. The set-up is based on the Cloner and the Matrix, it creates a more complex set up.)

Let me know if you have a question about it. I’m happy to look into it.

All the best

Cool, thanks! Give me a moment to wrap my head around that.
Thanks,

You’re very welcome, Jon, thanks for the reply.

Here is a Maxon Quick Tip that covers it, except for the Subfields, which have changed. (…my file has that new set up.)

P.S.: here is a Weight example for newer Fields based Cinema 4D versions. I use an Xpresso Tag here, as it is more reliable than to loop the information (Cloner->Matrix->Cloner).
I have placed the HUD to show how it works.

Jon,

As usual, I love to provide several versions of how to do things.
This one here works in a much simpler way.

The Project file contains two versions, small and large.

One more:

This is perhaps the most obvious, yet simple.
It uses a MoSpline that sets the initial animation. From there, it grows.
