Hair Curve Parameter Not Working as Expected

Hi,

I have adjusted the curve parameter of the frizz settings to only affect the middle portions of the hair.
Unfortunately, it also affects the tip portion.

Is there a way to prevent this?

You can see an illustration of the problem here:

You can check the illustration file here:

Regards,
Ben

Hi Ben,

The settings in the file were based on Frizz. Which means the amount of Frizz added from the root is the key here. Based on the Curve, you can add or more or less along the way.

The key here: along the way, which means that the tip position of the Hair, is the result of all that happens along the way. It is an additive.

What you expect is an effect that is only given to fractions of the Hair, if the curve says so.

Frizz works additive. In other words, if one would explore a single Hair in ten parts, the middle parts would have the most Frizz, parts 4 and 5 in this case. However, part six with less Frizz would start at the end of part 5. and so one. Whatever position part 9 provides on its end, will be the starting point of part ten with nearly to zero Frizz on its start.

Typically the Clump would do that, but since the Roots are that close, it needs to be stretched out first, and then it loses its symmetry.

My tip, go with Wave, which works like in the file below.

Tricky, but possible.

To comb it in shape is perhaps too much to ask, the same complicated level with directing it via XPresso.

Perhaps use Spline Guides. Let me know if you need an example.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi,

Thanks for the response.
So I guess it’s not possible with the plain Frizz.

RE: Perhaps use Spline Guides.
I’m using spline guides in the sample file.
I’m not sure what you are referring to.

That said, even if I revised the spline guides, the frizz is based on material which affects all the splines guides.
Current me if I’m wrong.

Hi Ben,

Frizz is not a partial effect that would leave the tips untouched. So, it won’t work with Frizz, as it would stretch the last part extremely if Frizz would use high values, and leave the tips where they are.

Here is the Spline example, it is not one spline guide, it is only Spline Guides, 1024 of them. Please note that the point order of the spline is crucial. (Main Menu> Spline> Point Order: …)

If you have gotten the Spline Objects as one, you can apply any deformation on it, BEFORE they are used, and converted to hair. (file …13.c4d). Note that the Plain Effector is set to Deform Points.

At the moment, the Hair Object shows up, store the results.

I hope that helps to get what you need.

My best wishes for your project.
