Hello,

I am retopologizing a model for the first time in R21 and Polygon Snap doesn’t seem to be as accurate as it was in R20. Is there a new setting of which I’m not aware? Shown in this image are some splines I drew with the Sketch tool with Polygon Snap on:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PYt7D7olbQX25WCt3juEcMjvxLwV5HZ6/view?usp=sharing

My Stroke Smoothing is at 100%. The strokes aren’t smooth and the points are almost always shooting off into space at some point. This is the same when using the Polygon Pen tool. I have a attached a scene file that has the product of me using the Polygon Pen and Sketch Pen with Polygon Snap on.

Can anyone advise me on what might be going wrong with my Polygon Snap in R21?

Thank you!

Hi blastframe,

Thanks for the file.

At the moment you switch off the Editor Menu> Options> Backface Culling, you should have not the problems you have described.

Please start with 50% smoothing, 100% seems entirely unusable here.

Hi Dr. Sassi,
Happy holidays! Thank you for this.

I am using HB ModellingBundle for retopology which turns on Backface Culling.

It’s odd because these tools worked fine with Backface Culling in R20. I am glad to have a solution for this workflow though.

Thanks again.

Thank a lot, blastframe. Happy Holidays!

Yes, it seems to trigger now more the effect you have encountered in R21.

I can reproduce the problem in R20, but mostly around the Nose only.

I love scene files and check carefully with a current build. Anything else has proven to waste time on both sides. Hence my constant request for project files. (I know, it is a little bit extra work…, but I’m very grateful for files!)

My best wishes for your project.
