How to maintain joint form when doing IK Dynamics?

Hi

How do I maintain the joint chain’s form when adding joint dynamics?
I can’t set the rot hold to 100 since it will negate all the dynamics effect.

You can see an illustration of the problem here:

You can check the illustration file here:

Thank you for looking at my problem.

Hi Ben,

Thanks a lot fo the file, very much appreciated.

Please try the following:

When you set up the IK, go to Dynamics> Forces> Gravity.
Set the Gravity to zero. Otherwise, this is the first ‘thing’ that will pull on your joints.

Let me know if that works for you, thanks.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi,

I initially though that without Gravity the dynamics would not work. Guess I was wrong. It still works.
Thanks!

You’re very welcome, Ben.

I’m glad it works for you.

Please note that in the Main Menu> Simulate> Forces> Gravity: Field, you have an option to create a more specific Gravity, in case you need it.
It needs to be in the IK> Dynamics> Forces> Forces: [Entry]

With the option to limit the Gravity with Field[s], you can keep the initial set up and move later this force back into the game, if needed.

My best wishes
