R21 Mixamo Rig Issue - EYES

Very excited to try this new rig, but I’m having an issue with the eyes of a Mixamo character.

I can connect the rig to the character, and do any adjustments as advertised. But the eyes aren’t connecting and stay in place. When I try to move and reposition, the rig has been adjusted so the pivoting is completely ruined. It might be due to the fact I’m trying to enable the facial blend shapes on the character, but I need that to be enabled.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

Hi zacsurpre,

I downloaded a fresh character from Mixamo. The rig has, as well as it is the case in your image, EYE-Joints. The C4D Mixamo Rig has not any Joints or setups for this.
I found that it helps to set things first to a working position, as shown here:

In the tutorial, there is only a Body Object. What to do with additional items is not introduced. I inspected the Retargeted-Hierarchy inside the Character, and it doesn’t hold the Eye-Joints. They stay obviously in the Mixamo-Rig. This leads me to the suggestion that the Eyes shouldn’t be dragged into the Weight Transfer option. So far, these two steps have worked here, with the eyes then glued into the head.

My tip: Create a post in the Tutorial suggestion forum, to get the available and more advanced rigs discussed in a new Quick Tip.

Thanks for considering it.

All the best

Thank you so very much Dr Sassi. I’m still new to Cinema4D, so I really appreciate your answer.

You’re very welcome, zacsurpre, thanks for your feedback.

We have here a series of how to build your own Character Template, but quite honestly, this is not something that I would suggest in the early stage of exploring Cinema 4D. It is steep, seriously steep.

I wish I had a link to a short introduction on how to handle such a case, hence my idea to create an entry into the tutorial suggestion forum. I think it would be an excellent addition to have.

I hope my little aid makes things work for now. If not, please let me know, I will prepare an upload link and explore your rig, perhaps it is different from the one that I took from Mixamo a couple of hours ago.

Enjoy
