Hello! I wanna ask about the time offset feature that is described at 19:00 minute and the fact that he couldnt use render instances.
He said that he used “redshift render proxy” instead. I dont own Redshift, so my question is, can u offset keyframes on a RS proxy? thanks

Hi thanulee,

You might ask in the Redshift forum about the offset options.
As far as I know it should be this URL:
https://www.redshift3d.com/forums

In Cinema 4D, any setting regarding different clones at the same time, per single cloner, will not result in the option to use Render- or Multi-Instances.

Please have a look here:
https://help.maxon.net/us/#OINSTANCE-ID_OBJECTPROPERTIES
Scroll down to : “Render Instances do however have a few …”

More about this here:
https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/new_in_cinema_4d_r20/c4d_r20_work_with_millions_of_clones_using_mograph_multi-instances

You can use the step effector to affect any key frame based animation, the outcome will be possible with instances (the standard setting), but no multi or render instances as mentioned above.

My best wishes.

Hello Dr. Sassi smile
Regaring c4d only, whats a solution/workaround if u have heavy animated objects and wanna offset/trigger their keyframes inside a cloner? I been struggling with this a while without success, therefore my question about Redshift since they can appear as cubes in viewport but they render proper.
thanks alot

Hi thanulee,

Each scene is different, and perhaps needs a different approach. To not know anything about a given scene, leads to guessing or to average suggestions.

Having said that, here some thoughts, and it is not complete, I just brainstorm about it here: (Some might not work or again no fit for your project)

•Number one is of course, get the hardware that fits to your work. There is nothing more disturbing for your creativity than a slow machine.
•Secondly, work and create efficiently, especially in modeling and using options that increase polygon count.
•Explore how much the “Level of Detail” options can support the scene.
•Use the Layer Management, to reduce the workload during set up
• Render settings should be always just a little bit over the final needs, not just crank it up and hope for the best
• Textures and shaders, are those optimized for the scene.
• Consider to export an animation as Alembic, and reload it.
• Explore the options in X-Ref.
• Replace background elements if possible with “cards”, i.e. already rendered – if the parallax allow to do so.
• Bake anything you can in textures, eventually bake the light into the textures.
• Store as much as possible in cache systems.
• Optimize Anti Alias as much as possible.
• Check the Render Settings options, e.g., Ray and shadow depth.
• … with some caution, explore other options, as ProRender

All the best

You’re very welcome, thanulee, thanks for taking the time.

I’m online, because I know how it feels to have maybe a little bit time during the Holidays and then there is something in the way of a nice Cinema4D session. wink Hence why I like to do it now instead of having the week off and do other things. I know how it feels to move not forward in the way it could. Besides, we’re open to the world and things are different all over the place.

If you want to discuss the current file, please do that with a new thread in the Q&A forum. That keeps things organized, and if needed we can just place a link here to the Tutorials forum.
In case you need an upload link, please let me know. It is always nice if the scene file has only the part in it, that cause the trouble, especially plug ins or 3rd party stuff is not really helping nor wanted of course.

Have a nice day!
