Hi there,
just been playing with the new subsurface scatter options of c4d r13.  Just wondering if theres a way to have solid objects inside that cast shadows through the subsurface scatter effect?

For example i’m thinking of having bones inside a very translucent, skin like material.

The unfortunately short answer is “no”, the new implementation of SSS does not support internal objects.

...just a follow-up, and certainly not created to argue with the correct answer Patrick gave.

There is a little workaround, maybe not always suitable.

Have a look to the file. I just “drilled” a whole on the backside, and you might notice an effect. Again, just a tiny little idea. But try a light inside without that “hole” ;o)
