The progress of the gradient luminance is based on its setting, like linear or smooth, for example, but also on the project settings.
Besides that, using a Colorizer on top of a gradient might show that more clearly.
The Use of Alpha/Strength in the Effector will also change the outcome.
If a Cloner, for example, provides (Transform> Color) to a clone and the Effector is perhaps set to (Parameter> Blending Mode) Add, it will change the outcome.
Any other Effector contributing even a little bit to the outcome (add, subtract, divide, multiply) will change the outcome.
So, many variables are in the game. If you use a Colorizer, perhaps don’t use it evenly. Set up perhaps a test with 10 or 20 clones in a row to see how it works.

Besides, random values often seem to pick more median values. I guess that is more of a cognitive thing.
(What is random? When we like it? Evenly distribution?)
