WTH is this?

I’ve spent this afternoon creating a bunch of redshift materials and now *some* of them are inaccessible, replaced with a warning triangle and the message “node space doesn’t exist”

Are they lost for good? Is this going to keep happening now that we’re in node-world? Any old materials may spontaneously cease to work?

Or is there a way to get them back? For now I can copy them from an older version of the scene, but it’s a big trap

Yes, those moments are not nice to have and let’s have a look to avoid those in the future.

Some nodes are specific to a Render Engine. If you developed something in Standard Render and want to have this in Redshift 3D, it might not be available. All of that said has little value compared to see what happened:

When you switch to Redshift in the Render Settings, the material shows no “!” and is used as intended.
