Hi ncrive,

I can’t tell you anything without knowing what the object’s UV was before that. I also need information about what you like to achieve.

Please attach the project file (zipped). I can also provide an upload link.
Amazon, Adobe, Apple, Wetransfer, Google, and Dropbox, are fine.

My tip:

All the best

Hi,
I’m following this tutorial: https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/how_to_put_labels_on_3d_objects/how_to_put_labels_on_3d_objects_preparing_uv_coordinates_label_placement
all is fine untill the time to relax the UV, when I hit apply LSCM, instead of getting the correct UV (tutorial), I get the image attached (my result), and since all the steps looks correct to me, I can’t find why.
I attach the zipped project file, I’m using R23, thanks a lot.
Nicola

Hi ncrive,

Now I understand why you posted in the Tutorial Forum. In that forum, everyone should only open a new forum thread via the Help “button” below the tutorial. This way, we keep things organized, and other artists will get to the same place with a click.

I can recreate your result. Not fun, I understand.

Do this before pressing the Apply button:

Check Auto Realign.

You might need to use the UV Commands> Transform> Move, X 0.15; Rotate 90ยบ and get what you need.

Alternative, explore the Peeling tool.

All the best

Hi, thank you, I will try that.
I still don’t understand why I’m not getting the same result as the tutorial. My mistake or some other reason? different version of C4d?

Thanks for the reply, ncrive.

If you go back in time, and I checked that, v19 will provide the result as shown.

Yes, the UV part has gotten a few updates. You can go back to quite a few versions, and the result is the same as in S26.

I tested R23 as well, same result.

So, not your mistake, and I’m sorry that you had that feeling at any point. Learning something new and then getting this to work on is not how it should be; sorry about that.

Be it as it will, I’m glad you asked, and I’m happy I was able to explore it. If there is anything else during the course that gives you problems, please let me know. We can’t go through 1000s of videos every half year, even if we wanted to. Here is why we like to structure the Help>Forum thingy, so previously asked questions can be found quickly.

I hope you can enjoy the rest of the series.

Cheers

P.S.:
I have linked the Tutorials thread to this post, and this forum’s thread to

Ok, thank you, it’s comforting to know that is in part due to a different version of C4D.
Anyway your tutorial series is of great help, thank you for your support, take care!

Thanks for the reply, ncrive.

Thanks for the compliment! I hope the admin team and the author will get that. I’m here to help; I have no influence on the content.

Again, sorry for the confusion, but I’m glad you asked, and we were able to clear that.

Enjoy the rest of the series.
