Loaded “Moves by Maxon” into S22 but OS Catalina 10.15.5 won’t run it, presumably because it’s not 64 bit. Is there a step I’m missing… haven’t found anything addressing this issue yet. Thanks!

Hi parlourtrick,

I just used a fresh, plugin free version of S22, and via Preferences> Open Preference Folder, I placed it into the plugin folder.

Check the folder of MovesByMaxon, is there more than one file in it?

Restarted S22, and it shows up in Extensions. MacOS 10.15.4

If that is not working for you, please check with the support.

My best wishes

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, that didn’t work either… same message: “movesbymaxon.xlib” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. The method for installing the plug-in is described in Cineversity as simply specifying the plug-in location in C4Ds preferences, which is what I did the first time. Then I tried your method and got the same message. I’ll have to reach out to Maxon… thanks for link. Cheers!

Sorry to read about your trouble, parlourtrick.

I have installed this year and last year’s version, just to see if something had changed.

Both work just fine.

My best wishes with support.

Cheers

I have a word into support. The latest iOS version (1.40) is no longer accepting Maxon licenses, so for the time-being, this product is not functional.

Hi visionarymind111,

Would you mind checking your problem with the support? I can’t replicate any problem here; it just works fine.
See screenshot, taken a few minutes ago.

Fingers crossed, it will work for you in no time.

Happy Holidays!

I reached out to support, and they said the following: “Unfortunately there was a problem with the latest release of Moves by Maxon that caused some users to be unable to log in.  However, please keep an eye out for updates on the AppStore as a fix for this issue is currently in Review by Apple and should be released soon.”

That was on Dec 21, when you last tested, so I presume the update had gone through. Unfortunately, the app is essentially dysfunctional for the following reasons:

1) At least with the PC version of C4D R25 using the Moves by Maxon extension(latest), the computer and iOS device are unable to see each other on port 52473, even if explicitly opened in the firewall. Furthermore, there is no longer an option to use a QR code for registration (it has been removed).

2) The iOS app on an iPad Pro 2021 shows significant lag in motion capture. It is currently unusable due to a pronounced .5-1 second delay at every 30 frames or so.

3) Body capture mode does not work at all (no body is recognized, regardless of what the camera is seeing).

I would recommend more rigorous testing before releasing updates. All of these functions were operable in the last version.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, visionarymind111.

I see. You were on a PC; Mine works here, and I’m on Mac. I’m glad you contacted the support, which is the best way for technical problems, No Doubt. Again, thank you.

Fingers crossed that is soon sorted out.

How Maxon has to work in terms of development is not a discussion that I have here on Cineversity. If you want Maxon to receive your idea of how things have to be, please use the support ticket option to create a suggestion. It will undoubtedly be read by the team responsible for suggestions. Thanks for considering. However, I understand that you like to work with products and pipelines that have no flaws. I’m with you on that.

Happy Holidays.
