Can it be done? smile

My object looks great until I put a RS material on it - All the sculpt detail vanishes. Is it something in the RS Object?
I tried posting this earlier but something went wrong. I’m trying to attach a before & after pic. Trying again now…

Thanks!

Hi kelly,

I can sculpt and then place a material as well an RS tag (sub-div) on it. No problems.

I will leave this upload link here for a moment, as I can’t get a Private Message to you (?)

(…)

I will have a look into it.

Cheers

Thanks Dr. S!

I just updated my email settings so PM should work!

But I think the pictures went through on my second attempt! smile

Thanks for the file, kelly.

PM isn’t working, so I am posting it here. I hope that is OK; let me know if not, I will take it offline.

The screenshot didn’t give enough information. The “pale-bluish-violet” could have been any material (standard or RS). So far I can tell, the RS-Material tag, if set to Geometry overwrite, requires RS material information (node-based)

Thank you so much Dr. S! I really should’ve been able to think of that myself. :/

Can I also ask: when I’m and node spaces: Redshift, and my render settings are set to Redshift, and I double click on the material that you created, the shader graph opens.

But when I go to create > Redshift > material, and dbl click on that, it opens in a different view/node view.

Which of these two view options would you say is the best to work in? And how can I ensure that my all materials always open in that view? (I will always want to use RS materials)

Thanks!

You’re very welcome, K.!

May I answer the question with a tutorial snippet? Since I have edited those snippets from this series, I remember that this was a similar question.

I hope it will answer the question. Yes, I hope that it will melt into one day instead of two options.

All the best
