Detaching a polygon face on three sides only

I’m sure this will be really simple, but its defeating me (or maybe thats just the new C25 interface changes)..

I want to be able to take a single polygon and un-connect three of its four sides so i can pivot it out on the connecting edge. Everything i do either stays fully connected or deletes the face

Basically I want to make a window for an advent calendar.

Any suggestions how to achieve this?

thanks
Adam
