DWG (CAD) viewport detail lost when rendering

Hi,

Can I retain the detail visible in the viewport when rendering imported DWG (CAD) files; or is there an alternate method to achieve a similar result?

In the example below, I need to retain the lines separating each cube within the structure.

Thanks for you time.

Hi michael.a.collin,

Please have a look here:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/5Jh4OzCzlYqmXtQxSFijGQbLlZNR6kRsI3lRbxFQ3Lc

01 Celrender (renderSettings)
11 Sketch ‘n’ Toons
21 Atom Array

Let me know if you need anything else. I’m happy to look into it.

Hi again Dr. Sassi,

The effect you showed with Sketch ‘n’ Toons is perhaps more suitable for my work, but I haven’t been able to recreate the same effect. I would like to have white cubes on a white background as you achieved, can you provide any advice?

The first attachment (11) is a render screenshot after applying Sketch ‘n’ Toons. The second (12) is a further render screenshot after adding a white material to the cubes. The third (13) is a render screenshot of the file you provided with the effect I would like to achieve.
Thanks in advance for you time.

Hi michael.a.collin,

Please have a look here first:
https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaytut/four_easy_projects_with_sketch_and_toon_draw_some_sketchy_lines

You will notice that a) the white material is not always needed if the “Shading” is set-up, and B) that each edge in the scene is one or the other Type in “Lines”.

The knowledge you gained in this tutorial will help you explore the options in the Sketch ‘n’ Toon Tag on the object much faster.

Yes, sometimes an edge might not show up, and then it needs an Edge Selection to be forced to do so, which is also part of the individual Sketch ‘n’ Toon Tag.

All the best
