Freeze an XP fluid simulation?

Hello!

Am I allowed to ask and XP question here?

I have a cached liquid simulation with an OVDB Mesher on it that I would like to “freeze” at a certain point. Basically I want to turn it into a solid object that I can duplicate and use in different ways.

Any thoughts are very much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi kelly,

X-Particle questions should be answered via Insydium.

To get what you need in Cinema 4D make it editable, or select the xpOVDBMesher and export it as an Alembic file.

Then Merge this abc file back.

While the abc object is selected, go into the Attribute Manager> Object> Animation.

Here is a screen capture.

Thanks Dr. S!

I also found that you can just go to the frame you want in the simulation, make the Mesher editable, delete everything else, export as obj and there you have your solid object! smile
Thanks so much for your reply. You are always a tremendous help!

You’re welcome, kelly.

If you set the abc export to that one frame, same result, one object.

Typically this request is based on the “Matrix Freeze Frame” effect. So I didn’t focus on excluding all other frames.

Typically changes are requested or wanted. The abc file reads only what is needed for a specific frame. This can be made editable at any time if no further changes are needed.

If you want just one freeze-frame of the object: Copy the xpOVDBMesher and press the c key when it shows the exact shape you are after.

The Current State To Object is perhaps much easier, while the xpOVDBMesher is selected at the frame you are after.

Enjoy your weekend.
