Toon Rig Series: Rig Features - Lost "Reset USERDATA"

Hello,
I miss the “Controls” tab on the Toon Rig where I can reset Userdata without breaking everything up (like we see at 9:54 in the tutorial).
Where can I find it ?

I just loaded the Sporty - Toon Rig scene from the content browser in the C4D S24.111.

Thank you for your help !

Hi vincent.tirtiat,

Thanks for the timestamp.

A little bit earlier, he selected all the Controllers. While those were selected, he went then to:

Main Menu> Select> Selection Filter> Create Selection Object
https://help.maxon.net/c4d/s24/en-us/Default.htm#html/OSELECTION.html

With this new object (name it wisely), you can restore the previous selection.

He then used the Reset PSR command to place all the Controllers back to “zero” (well: 1 for scale). This is possible because the controllers have been placed, and then the Freeze option was used. (Keeping the PSR values, but have them zeroed out for a quick reset.

Single reset options are often given in the Attribut Manager, after selecting the Controller.

All the best

Hello Dr Sassi,

Thank you for your reply !

I created the “selection object” for all the controls and th PSR reset works well for all the translation.
About the userdata drived by the Face HUD, for example, are not reset by this way.
Sebastian Pfieffer shows that we should go in “Control” tab of the object “Face-Ctrl” to find the Reset Userdata and reset them properly.

I have two problems at this point :
- I can’t find this “Controls” tab in the scene file “Sporty Toon Rig”. Instead, I find “userdata” with a reset button.
- Either in the “Sporty Toon Rig” scene or in the “Zombie Face Expression” scene, hitting this button “reset userdata” seems to break the connection of the Face HUD and the bones of the face…  Nothing move anymore after the reset and I need to CTRL+Z.

Hi vincent.tirtiat,

Could you name the controller(s)? So I can take a closer and direct look?

Just a little note, not a biggy, but since you continue in that thread, I have to address it:
I have moved it to the Q&A, as this thread was not generated based on the Help button.

https://www.cineversity.com/forums/viewthread/475/
I hope that is OK. Please use only the Help button to open a thread in the Tutorial forum. Thank you.

Would you mind sharing the time stamps along with the questions so I know exactly what you are looking for? Like you did in the opening post of yours? Thank you.
Reset – in which tutorial, at what time? Please note that he jumps between the Character Object and the made edit Character Object in some of the videos. So both will have different options. But I really don’t know what you have in mind.

You might have the content on your screen: Zombie expression. What are you referring to? I don’t know.

I really like to help, but you need to tell me a little more about where you are (in the tutorial, name and time, etc.). Thanks for considering.

If you use the Help button of a tutorial and stick with the question to the single tutorial, I can rewatch the tutorial based on your question. However, if you refer to one or perhaps even more series, I will be lost. I have indeed watched most of the 4000+ tutorials here since 2006, but I do not have them all down to every detail memorized. I hope that is easy to imagine. I clicked through the series to find the Zombie scene, but it is only (?) in the intro.

All the best

Hello Dr Sassi,

To precise a bit more my concern, I’m in this tutorial : https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/toon_rig_series/toon_rig_series_rig_features

At 9:48 (“to rest the userdata, use the custom reset buttons…”)
And I opened the file [Sporty - Toon Rig.c4d], that we can find in the Asset Browser in C4D S24, to give it a try.

The problem is : on the controller “Master_CON+”, there is a no “Controls” tab. Instead, I find “userdata” with a reset button. If a press it, it reset the userdata of the character, but it seems to break them also. The face is well reset but I can’t use anymore the userdata on the controller “Face_CTRLs” to animate it. I still can move the “blink” or the “zip_L” or “zip_R”, but that’s it.

I tried on the R23, i tried with the Zombie Character on a other file provided, same problem.

OK, sorry Dr Sassi, I found the answer watching again and again the tutorials ^^

I found the answer at 0:20 of this one https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/toon_rig_series/toon_rig_series_setting_up_the_psr_morphs

It seems that the Reset Userdata unthick the box “enable_facemorph_expresso”. I just had to re-activate it and everything is fine ! :D

Thanks for updating your own question, vincent.tirtiat

Sounds like you got it working as intended.

Have a great weekend
