Trigger animated texture with a linear field

Hi, I’m working on a scene with hundreds of cloned candles and I want to be able to trigger the range of a 2D animated texture which I am using for the flame to be blown off. The candles need to turn off in a wave like motion starting from the back of the clones to the very front. I thought that using a linear field would be a perfect way to achieve what I want to do but I am open for other suggestions.

Thanks for your time!

Hi oscar.gomez.villarreal

Please check the Private Message here (top middle of the forum’s interface).

I will have a look into it.

Cheers

Hey!

Thanks so much for responding. I’ve just sent you the file, I hope it all makes sense.

Thanks for the File, Oscar.

I have sent your file back via PM.

Since I write for a forum, here is a scene with dummies and reduced.

What I have implemented here is the “blow the candle out “countdown”.

The red objects are the burning candle, then comes a group of single objects. These single objects can have a single texture or mini loops with progressing less intensive flames. (…hence the countdown). Then the candle is off.

Again, this example has no textures nor any real models in it, just dummies. Press play.

The two main settings are in the note left in the scene, just in case.

Enjoy

Thanks for the Feedback, Oscar.

You’re very welcome.

If you place them on the Polygon center, a Scale option is provided. Perhaps that is something valuable.

Enjoy your project.
