I’m modeling something and I accidentally hit W, now anything I select is highlighted while I work on it. How do I turn this off please? I restarted, no luck.

Hi kelly,

The W would toggle the Coordinate System (World v. Object). Something else must have happen.

Before I suggest to delete the preferences, which is kind last resort, I would love to have a look at the file.

I will leave this Upload link shortly here.
I can’t send PMs to you. Did you opted out, or is it a problem in the system?

Thanks Dr. S! I saw it was World v. Object thing, but couldn’t get it off. I’ll send you the file. No, I didn’t opt out of messages here. :/

Thanks for the file, kelly.

When I saw your initial question, I went to the
Main Menu>Window> Customization> Customize Commands.

I typed w into the shortcut field to see if anything could have led to this. My idea was that you might have pressed a key before that.

Anyway, besides the Coordinates Toggle, Sculpt was mentioned here in conjunction with the Sculpt Selection tool. (but it is not often that people use sculpt, so I excluded that, as if you were there, and pressed the w it should have shown you some results.

https://help.maxon.net/c4d/s24/en-us/Default.htm#html/TOOLSCULPTBRUSHSELECT.html#PLUGIN_CMD_1031429

The W here shows you the mesh. Go to a brush tool (e.g., Pinch) while the object is selected. Press the w key, and again, etc. (doesn’t work while in point of polygon mode, must be Model or Object mode)

I hope that works for you.

Thanks Dr. S! You’re a diamond! That was it! (it did try hitting W twice in a row before, but it worked after your instruction only! smile

Thanks a lot for the feedback, kelly.

Yes, it is a little bit dependent on the context settings. Otherwise, as you know, the Coordinates will switch.

Cheers
