Hi Everyone,

Just started in bodypaint and more advanced UV mapping so forgive the noob question.

I d like to be able to spread my brush across my whole object, but the brush cuts off at one half od my UV Map.

Maybe an issue with the map I made? Does anyone please have any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks so much!

Best

J

Hi J.,

Without a project file, I hesitate to guess, as I always think that a project file would pinpoint the problem. Which means we do not waste your time.

Is tiling off?

Take a copy of the file, use the Wizard. That might give some insights.

Or just explore what happens when you use the projection mode.

I can send an upload link if this needs to stay private.

Cheers

Thank you so much for your help. I uploaded the project file and texture maps to dropbox.

I was working through this tutorial for a project-

https://www.linkedin.com/learning/sculpting-and-painting-a-head-in-cinema-4d/getting-everything-in-place-to-paint

I baked a sculpt object. but had to change workflows with the updated UI. Tried then to use the paint setup wizard. All maps included in the dropbox.

Thanks so much for your help and time.

Thanks for the files.

After baking, in your case, from Level 6 to four, you can set the model to four. The fine details are supposed in the textures. I guess I echo here the instructor only.

The UV works but is not without limitations. Typically a seam should be set where we have the least amount of attention.

Go to the Asset Browser and call up the Generic head. Explore how you can paint on it.

I have a short screen capture below, showing pretty much only the forehead of your model. I hope that is OK.

First, I paint directly on it, and you can see where the seam is and that the UV Island has not exactly the same size. Hence the change in the brush size. It is clearly visible.

This can be avoided with the projection painting, and only a little bit shows up.

However, to get a UV that has not a seam in the middle of the face is preferable.

I was able to paint without hitting the border, or was the seam the problem, to begin with.

Please be aware that any change of the UV will change the baked maps, or you work with several UV tags and materials. I would try to avoid that.

Thank you so much Dr Sassi. This was a big help.

As a a closing question, what would you suggest to get a better UV one without a seam in the middle for example?

Thank you for all your help.

All the best,

J

You’re welcome, J., thanks for the kind feedback.

May I answer this question with a link to a thread from a few days ago?

Not to be lazy, but I have the feeling that it might contain what you are looking for.
Let me know if that didn’t work, and I will find something else.

My best wishes for your course and exploration.
