Baking alpha

Hello
I’m having an issue with a material I’m trying to bake to export into an FBX.  It is a C4d native material that is trying to replicate a cone of light coming from a spotlight.  I created a cone that matched my light, then put some noise and gradient in the alpha channel.
However the alpha channel doesn’t seem to want to bake out at all.  I can get color but no alpha.

Thanks for any suggestions!  Project file below

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the file and for using Dropbox.

Yes, no idea why the Alpha channel shows up problematic.
Anyway, I have copied the Layer-shader into the Luminance and baked it from there.

Then changed both with the Color and Alpha image.

Let me know if that works for you.

Here is the FBX file with the two textures.

You’re very welcome, Alex.

I explored it a little bit more, and weirdly enough, the second+ layer disables the baking for alpha.

A report is written, and I hope we will see this working soon. I believe an Alpha channel should always be linear, as it is a data channel, nothing that we need to see with a gamma transformation.
