Boole not working in s24.

Hi Everyone,

I have an issue regarding the boole in s24, it doesn’t seem to be working. I have the following chain i’m trying to intersect with each other but nothing is happening when i try to intersect them together.

Boole with a connect object as a child,
In the connect object i have a cloner (with a cylinder as the child) and a plane.

When i add everything that is in the connect object to the boole it doesn’t react at all?

Am i overlooking something or missing something please?

Many Thanks,

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Please share a file. See below, that is how I understand your description, and yes, that makes no sense. Or a sketch what you want.

Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply Dr Sassi,

Pretty close, the planes in the connect, not the cloner but here is a screen shoot for what i’m doing just now. I’m trying to follow this Insydium tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw5aRCM7k_w 8mins into it.

Thanks for the help.

If i remove the connect object from the chain it works fine but i think i need the connect object for x-particles tbh

Thanks Chris,

Is this better? (Even I get always a weird feeling “booling” Planes.

Enjoy.

I’ll give yours a go just now and let you know thanks.

I did try removing it from the chain and added it back into the boole and it suddenly decided to work just fine. Not sure what happened but its working as intended now.

Sorry to have troubled you, should have tried removing it before hand lol

Ps: I think the plane in the boole is so they all have the one noise texture on them, rather than using multiple textures.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, Chris.

After lunch, I hopped into it, as I think there should be an easier (or cleaner?) way to do it.

Example:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/DBphf33pLPZlCf1BG1eryOIqwAuSGNIaux7Ohc60qdV

Projection is set to flat, rotated and Object Manager> Tags> Fit to Object
The other part is to set the Noise to the world.
I have a Cloner as well a single object in the scene (… under the Connect). One of the other can be deleted.
To move a single or a few clones around, use the MoGraph Weight Selection and place that into the Selection field or a Plain Effector. With the weight painted on, you can move them (more or less) into the direction set up in the Plain effector.

I haven’t watched the tutorial, even if I like his content a lot, but we have the 3D Motion & Design Show running today, so my attention is guided toward this. So, I hope I do not miss a thing for your purpose.

(Colors are just for demo purposes. Volumes needed for xpExplosiaFX can be then just inherited.)

Enjoy

Sorry for the delayed reply, been flat out in the studio recently. I hope the 3D Motion & Design Show went well and you had a good time at it.

Thanks very much for all of the above though, that’s really good of you to do all that. I’ve downloaded your project file and will have a look at it this afternoon. Will be interesting to see what you managed to come up with. In the end i did manage to get everything to work and final render turned out not to be for a first tempt tbh

Will let you know my feedback regarding your project file, thanks again for everything.

Chris.

Thank you very much, Chris, for taking the time.

There are often many ways to do things. I like to offer (typically) a few. I believe that everyone has a very unique set of ideas about what works best.
Besides that, to have an alternative or even more options is never a bad idea. Filling everyone’s creative library is certainly my target here.

Enjoy

Well your help is extremely appreciated, it’s always good to have a few ideas to try out and considering i’ve only been using s24 and x-particles for 3 weeks any help possible will go along way hopefully.

Thanks again for everything.

I understand, Chris.

I think each of these apps can keep anyone busy to learn. I have not so much the first level in mind; that is the easy one. (All tools and how they work).
The second level, in my book, is the one where things are combined, which already has a nearly infinite number of possibilities. The third layer is then more what I would call a hack. Information from “normally” unrelated parts will get connected on the third, and we see wonderful and unexpected results.

Rest assured, no one has ever covered layer two nor layer three, of course, and that is the beauty; there are tons of new discoveries ahead.
This will happen mostly when layer one is mastered, without, not so much. So, please take your time, and ignore any vibes of feeling overwhelmed. Instead, ask, and we take it from there.

It is a beautiful tool, and my target is that everyone has the most fun with it.

Cheers
