Hello,

I have this hierarchy of objects and when i try to use a mesh deformer to bind the blue objects as the cage, they seem to do something different. I am far from experienced with rigging things and cluster might not be the best candidate here but i d like to understand what im doing wrong.

Thanks a lot!

And after posting i realised that my twist is applied twice on my object: once overall and once from my cage mesh. I used a stop tag to fix this.
So my next q is, what would be another way to rig this animation i am after? morph? In general any suggestion is welcome.

And i hope im not asking too much posting all the time heh. Many thanks!

Hi thanulee,

Thanks for the file and for using Dropbox. As well for updating your own question!
Never hesitate to ask. Many people might have a benefit from the question here.

If I get it correctly, the Cage Deformer, the Mesh, the Weighting tag, the Display-tag, the Stop-tag, the Cluster object, including the required Null, all of that serves one purpose: to stretch the object on the end of the animation. Eight objects.

If that is so, then a single FFD cage with a total of eight points and PLA animated can replace all of that.

Example:

As a side note, the Fracture-tasta object is not really needed, so far I can see.

Is that answering your question?

Enjoy your weekend.

Many thanks! Well i did that to avoid PLA animation. I started with an ffd myself.
So my next q is: can we somehow bind the FFD points to a null?

Cheers!

edit: the fracture object will take upon some mograph animation thats why its there

Thanks, thanulee, for the feedback,

You can use a Pose Morph>Points to drive the FFD.

That should give you the fastest way to animate it.
