Good afternoon!

How can I make editable again a Character Definition tag.

For some reason it changed to a Null Object.

Best Regards

Hi yguerrero2010,

The Character Definition Tag was introduced after this presentation was produced.

A tag can’t be made editable. What do I miss?

If you have a question about the presentation, would you mind telling me the time [minute] at which the question arises?

Thanks a lot.

Dr. Sassi

I’m really having fun working with C4D.

I’m working with a Toon Rig and after having setup the Model, Character Tag (Toon Rig) and Subdivision Surface; suddenly the Character Tag became a Null Object.

That means, that even that the System is showing the Toon Rig, I do not longer have access to the Animate Tab, by example.

Please, see the attachment.

Best Regards

Hi Yolanda Guerrero-Rebollo,

Thanks for sharing your good mood, even in a moment of trouble.

Thanks as well for the extra details. When you write Tag, to the best of my understanding, you mean Object?

It sounds like, while the Character object was selected, you pressed the C key, which makes it editable. If you use CMD+Z directly, that is not a big problem, but later on, that is gone. I have no remedy for that later on.

Just to be clear, if we talk about the same, is that what happens?

This is typically the step when you have everything set up, and perhaps like to export the rig to a game engine for example.

Please consider for the future the following step:

• Save early, safe often

(and/or)

• Go to the preference…

Main Menu> Edit> Preference> Files> Autosave.
https://help.maxon.net/c4d/s24/en-us/Default.htm#html/PREFSFILES-PREF_FILE_MAIN_GROUP.html?TocPath=Configuration|Preferences|_____6

This will create copies. Sometimes that can save you hours of work.

Again, sorry for your trouble.

My best wishes.
