Geometry issues

Hello
I was given an asset to work with, but am having some trouble cleaning up some geometry issues I’m not sure how to clean up…I tried a few things but they seem to be related to a geometry behind the visible layer that is causing problems.
What would be a good strategy to make this cleaner?

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the file and for using Dropbox.

The problems were mainly based on disconnected polygons (double points), and Phong Edge breaks.

Mesh> Remove> Optimize (Watch for the tolerance, as the model is relatively small.
All edges selected: Mesh> Normals> Unbreak Phong Shading.

To improve it slightly, you could use the Smooth deformer at 5% and perhaps the SubDivision Surface (SDS).

All of that is in the file:

The shirt’s typical openings are closed and not in the way that an SDS would work correctly. There are remedies for that as well if needed at all.
Let me know if that worked for you.

All the best

P.S.: Some left over polygons were in one sleeve.

Thanks for the feedback, Alex.

If you have something like that more often, please check this out:

Of course, in any way, I’m happy to look into anything…

BTW, there is a male and a female shirt in the Content Browser of R23.

All the best
