“Additive” Transparency in Node Material

Hello,

I’m wondering if there is node-based way to create the effects of the “Additive” option found in transparency channel of Standard/PBR materials.

I find this option essential when using the effects such as “thin film” and have been unable to reproduce it’s effects when working with node materials.

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice.

Hi Brian,

I have no answer to that, none that would make me happy, as I always found that this “additive” was kind of weird. But when it is useful, why not! Having said that, here is a set-up based on the Thin Film Shader in PBR as reference. I wouldn’t say that it is a match, but I guess that is the closest I got it. This is how I understand it and fake it with the options I can see.

Example:

(I also tried what RedShift came up with, converting the PBR; it ignores the additive option. )

Perhaps it leads to something useful for you.

Cheers
