Hi samsparks,

Assuming you have downloaded the Content available, then you should find this in your Content Browser.
Use the Search, type pipe, and you should get it.

If not, please let me know.

All the best

Hello,

While following along with the first video in the “Hard Surface Modeling UV Unwrapping” series, I’m receiving an error when attempting to do the second UV Rectangularize at about 21:50 into the tutorial. The Error states “Invalid Selection: UV Rectangularize only works with one rectangular quad patch.”

I’ve checked and verified that I following along perfectly and have the same polys selected as the instructor.

Any advice?

System Info:
MacOS 11.01 Big Sur
Cinmea 4D R23.110

Thank you!

Hi BrianSwarthout,

Please always use the Help button below the tutorial, so this forum stays organized. Thanks for considering.

To get your problem, a Project file would be helpful. However, I tried to recreate your problem, and the only way I was able to do so was based on partially disconnected UV-polygons.

Please have a look here:

In short, perhaps (as I don’t know what your file looks like) the “UV Weld and Relax…” might fix the problem.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers

Hello,

Thanks for the quick response and apologies for posting my question in the wrong section.

I’ve tried the “UV Weld and Relax” and am encountering the same “UV Rectangularize Error” issue when attempting to use the
UV Rectangularize” function after the Weld and Relax.

I’m also unable to attach a .zip of my project file to this post and am receiving an error about the “incorrect MIME” type.

Again, thank you so much for your help and consideration!

Hi BrianSwarthout,

I tried to send you an upload link last night, but it was not possible. However, sometimes it goes through. Yes, if the zip is not the exact mime type, it declines; sorry about that. So, I’m out of ideas for now. Murphy’s law?

If you have a cloud service, please use the full URL, and for safety reasons, I’m limited to DropBox, Amazon, Wetransfer, Google, Apple, and Adobe.

All the best

Hi BrianSwarthout,

Thanks for the DropBox file.

I checked, and I was able to produce the problem from the start. It is a different file than what I had downloaded from the tutorial. The difference is small but crucial: There are N-Gons in the file I got from the DropBox.

Please have a look here:

Enjoy the rest of the series.

Cheers
