Swimming texture on animated volume mesher

I’m breaking an object apart with voronoi fracture and placing it in a volume builder/mesher so it looks more like slightly melted cheese or chocolate (no hard edges) as it crumbles.

Unfortunately the pieces swim through the texture on the volume mesher as they fall apart. Is there a work around to get the texture to stick to individual pieces or do I need to come up with a different solution?

Thank you…

Hi Sapphire9,

By default, there is not. The Volume-Mesher produces with each change a new mesh. With this, any attempt to even remotely think about a UV mesh is disabled.

If anything useful is available before Volume takes over, perhaps Camera Mapping might be an option. Without a project file, it is hard to tell.

In summary, there is no option, only a case by case exploration. Example:

All the best

You’re very welcome, Sapphire9.

If you don’t like to share the file in public, I can send you an upload link.  If so, please save the project with assets.

Cheers

That sounds good.  I will take you up on that.
I’m also using Redshift, which I should have mentioned in the original post.

P.S.: If there is a way, in this case, it will be highly dependent on the main camera view.

Please include the targeted camera animation (if) as well.

Again, this is an exploration, not a promise. wink

P.S.S.: files as a zip, I do not touch open-source compressions. We live in a time of a heavy thread with ransom-ware; open source software sounds like the least safest option to me. I can’t take any risks.

Hi Sapphire9,

Thank you very much for your file.

I have not used your file here; only the core part was recreated.

I had to replace the Tube with an Extrude set-up to get the UVs I needed. (I’m not a big fan of the Triplanar node for high-end renderings.)  With that, while all Volume modes are off, I rendered the Voronoi Fracture with the main camera. This camera can’t be changed after that!
This rendered clip can then be used to camera project it onto the Volume result. Redshift (as you certainly know) has a specific camera-map node for that.

As this is a question that addresses Cinema 4D renderer and can it be applied to RedShift 3D, I explored it here in this forum. (Typically, I try not to interfere with the Redshift 3D forum, as long as I’m not advised otherwise).

Since Redshift3D targets (more or less) real-time performance, I exported the mesh into an Alembic file, and the camera mapped it onto this. To leave it in the Volume settings had some downsides anyway.

I hope that helps.

(…TXcm_21.c4d for standard, …RScm_21.c4d for Redshift 3D.)

My best wishes for your project.

Thank you again for taking the time to look into this for me.
I’ll dig into your file in a bit and see if I can make this work.

I really appreciate your help!
