Hi,

Glass bottle or plastic bottle needs thickness and liquid inside the thickness….!

Whats the best way to make thickness, most of time in detailed bottle model small area polygons goes overlapped and set that again.

What you suggest to make thickness….?

Thanks,
Imran.

Hi Imran,

I think it depends on how the bottle will be modeled in the first place and what shape needs to be created.

With a Lathe and Splines, I often have done an
Main Menu> Spline> Clone> Outline
Setting then the first point in the bottom to have the “Close Spline’ unchecked, to get a closed glass volume on end.

With Polygons, the Normal shift is sometimes a problem when the bottle was created not in the “middle”. In other words, the one Normal Shift needs to create the fill thickness of the material. It might be better in complicated shapes to move one half inside and a copy half outside. Whatever works best, of course. I would say anything in general; shapes are too different.
A good idea is to keep the polygons as large as possible and subdivide later.

There are other options, but they are quick and often problematic. Cloth Surface or even Explosion FX can create this.

All the best

You’re very welcome, Imran; thanks for taking the time.

If you have an example, I’m happy to explore it and share ideas about it.
