I made the pillar using a different way and now I’m having trouble with the “compensating the plain effector” part (1:30). The blocks’ size can’t be scaled back with the value given in the video.
The Grow effect will be minimal if you intend to use the Linear falloff with it.

The critical problem that Darrin solved in the 3b part, is based on the missing option to shrink (the opposite of growing in the fields. His tutorial starts with an overall complete (step-wise) scale down of all chunks and then scales them back to full size. Which is undoubtedly a smart way to do it.
The file above shows a different approach. It placed the MoGraph Weight Tag #1 into Weight Tag #2 and just inverted it. This Weight Tag is then used in the Plain Effector.

I was about to come here and say sorry because my question was a stupid question. Actually it works, I just used the wrong tab. In the video Mr. Frankovitz used the Transform tab, I used the Coord tab. I’ve checked that again and it does work. My appologize for the false problem.

I was checking your file and it’s surely helpful. It would take a while for me to understand these tags, I’ll try to research myself first before asking any question. I also paused learning the pillar tutorials to learn the fields topic by Mr. Pozantzis first.
In the “Self-Building Roman Pillar, Part 03b: Building Using Fields and Freeze Layer Growth” segment, a Delay Effector is added to the Plain Effector at 06:38. Adjustments are made to the Effect Strength tab, and adding a Random Field w/Noise in the Subfields area.
I am using R23, and do not see an “Effect Strength” tab for the Delay Effector when it is applied as a field layer within the Plain Effector. Is there an alternate way to do this with R23? I tried putting the Delay Effector and a Radom Effector field in a Folder, but couldn’t get it to replicate the results in the tutorial.
I will study the “Demystifying Fields” tutorial next, as this will likely explain a lot that I am missing.
I would not dismiss the Delay Effector just because there is a Delay Field. They are both useful.
Let me explain.
The Delay Effector takes the change on the clone as information to work with. That means all changes that happened to the point when the Delay Effector gets to work. Everything after it, no effect.
The Delay Field works in the list only; whatever happens below that list is of interest to this one. Anything above it is ignored.
You might already see that this will lead to something different in most cases.
So both are dependent on their position in the information flow.
But the Delay field repeats what happens in the list. This means if only one Effector is used, the result should be similar. Here is your question.
In R23, you will find in the Layers Tab the Effect strength slider; see the image.
To apply the Random Field to the Delay Field only, make the Random Field a child of that Effect Strength “Folder”.
Make sure the Delay is set to Spring.

Thanks a lot. I don’t think that you have confused the two; at least that was not what I tried to say. It was more important to me to show that perhaps, sometimes, the Delay effector has advantages.
I never answer from memory, even if it is tempting. But as you can see, the changes are obvious. So, to catch always, these are only acknowledged fully if set up new and checked again.
