Hi gentib,

I have sent you an upload link. I need a c4d file. I see that you have linked a jpg, but I do not know snipboard. Especially not with shortened URLS, which is a huge security risk.

I will get an email from Dropbox when the file is uploaded; no further actions are needed.

Smooth it can mean a lot. You need to be more specific.

I will look instantly into it.

All the best

Hi gentib,

Thanks for the files.

I’m am not clear at the moment about the target. This model (the one you have sent me) needs to be smoother, or a model is required as in the image?

I have an example here with a little screen capture:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/xFnXXQc8QY4ebESBWaqnffUNfCvL3z3kV5QYVG1euCc
I would go with something that can be adjusted to quickly send your client new versions if needed.

If you want to have the shared model smoother:

After the first click on the mesh, I saw that the polygons were doubled.
So, I “exploded” the mesh in single parts. I got 36 single meshes. (Main Menu> Mesh> Conversions> Polygon Groups to Objects.)
I tried to work with the model, but since the mesh was kind of subdivided and unable to get un-subdivided, I would say a new model, like above, is faster to do.

I’m not clear what exactly you need, if the client has seen your model and needs it smoother, or if the model was created after you got the image, and the client was not happy. I would love to know a little bit more, so I hope to support you in a better way.

All the best

P.S.: Here is pretty much the same version, only a Weight map is used to limit the Displacer Effect that I saw on the image.

Adjustments are similar, as mentioned above.

Let me know what you need; I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers

Hi gentib,

I understood that you did not want to animate it.

Fields are a way to deform an object via Displacer, while the deformation is not permanent. The idea was to give you an option to change it quickly.

========

Creating a near box-shaped bag, but with the typical impressions of being filled and handled. Just a strong paperback, not cardboard. (Those are details changes a lot.)

Some thoughts:

You want to deform a box-like shape, so it becomes a bag. You could use the Sculpting tools for that.

Or even simpler, the main Menu> Mesh> Magnet Tool

I have quickly touched a few of these tools here:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/bQ7aRioa1ffIXShuF6KcF5DHg8H2ms2r6ke2D2JXttY

I see that there is a fold on the top; the question would be, is it enough to do this with a Bump-map, or do you want to have that in the model?
Such details need to be communicated.

I will check in the morning what you need (here is midnight, since we are on different time zones, talk to you later)

My best wishes

P.S.: not a paper-bag, but perhaps you get some ideas from this presentation:

P.S.: genlib, I had hoped to get a little bit more input on what you need.
I push this request for detailed input, as anyone like to work in teams needs to communicate precisely. Assumptions/guesses do not work well.

Going by the image alone, it requires some core techniques, which I illustrate here. I do not even think that each step came close, as that was not the target here.
I want that you understand what tools you can use.

I find it less educational to provide the exact steps. Modeling is more like drawing. You see something, it is processed and then drawn.
Coloring by numbers (wrongly named painting by numbers) is the complete opposite. So, here are some pointers.

I use the PoseMorph tag here to store the work. In that way, you can come back later and adjust things. When you are happy with the result, use the
Object Manager> Object> Current State to Object,
to get a copy of it.
If you know exactly what you want, exclude that step. It’s just an idea.

Here is the short little clip with some pointers. It is not intended to be a tutorial, not even close. Just to get some light of a possible workflow.

Screen capture 60sec, scene file with steps.
