Good morning,

I have got a simple question for most of you.
Is it possible to creates a “perfect ” uv map on a cube?
What will be the best procedure to create it?
Many thanks, to all of you.

Hi Morg,

Think of any card box, unfolded, that would be the closest that you can get. It can be a fold like a small t or capital T. Of course, the one side of the t and the other side of the T could be mixed. Six sides have a specific logic to it.

Another example, going by your image: If you take a print of a photo, large enough to wrap a box, how would you do that?
As your image shows, something is missing in the shoulder area.

Of course, an image can be projected (like a slide projector) on to the surface with flat or camera mapping if an image needs to be seamless, with Shrink-Wrapping. If I would know more about your target, I can give you more precise examples.

Here is a very rough run-down about the UV set up. Please note that while I move the UV mesh (right side), the whole placement of the image changes.

Let me know what you need, and I’m happy to look into it. Perhaps with an example file.

Cheers
