Apparently I am an idiot.

I am doing the tutorial but my primitive shapes look all crunchy like there is no smoothing between the polygons. It even looks that way in the render. Is there a setting I am missing?

Hi monparsons,

I would love it if you could see yourself a someone who learns and has maybe not received the information needed.

Please attach a project file if possible, for future questions, thank! Images have not a lot of information. I can see the problem, which is excellent, but typically I can’t tell you precisely what the next step would be. Perhaps here I might guess correctly…
I found over the decades that guessing is a waste of anyone’s time. It will work or not. A project file is a piece of clear and stable information.

Please open the attached file and have a look at how these objects change. It is a question of segments. If you set the Capsule to the same number as the Torus, then it should already look much better.
Project file, screenshot.

The key is to find the sweet spot between the number of segments and the needed smoothness. In other words, to just increase the segments will slow down anything, which is not very useful.

I hope that supports your progress with this tutorial.

All the best, stay safe, stay healthy.

The problem will be solved after the next few parts of the lesson, you will learn how to smooth objexts. You may also want to check the “Cinema 4D Lite Reference” lesson later.

Yes, huanle5062, EJ will go in part 8 into more organic modeling.

Thanks for your reply.

The question monparsons had was a little bit different.

As usual, if something is not clear or limits the progress, I like to share what is needed. As I have written it over the years many times, a question not answered will work as a black hole, it sucks energy into it.

Enjoy your weekend.

I can’t fine those little yellow handles whom you’re using to change the object size, shape and attributes. I’ve tried googling it here and there but couldn’t find it(PS: I’m not talking about XYZ Handles).

Edit:
I’m using Trail Cinema 4d S22

Kindly help
Thanks in Advance

Hi Yusuf,

There are many states of the application where they are not available.

Here is a one-minute video clip that shows where they should be visible, and when they are not.

Is this working for you in the same way?

After an object is made Editable, they are gone for good.
