Xpresso: Reset User Data (float slider)

Hi,

I have some float sliders that drive the position of some objects. Is there a way to drive the % of the Hammer float slider (essentially reset it) based on another object’s position? When I move the Slide to 100%, it resets the Hammer to 0%, but when I move the Slide back to 0%, I don’t want the Hammer to move back to 100%. I want the Hammer to stay at 0%.
Thanks.

Hi Imran,

The question will be if the Hammer is reset, what action would allow being moved again? If so, when does the Slider takes over?

Example
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/IRePpljdyTcf5mRNAwNIb7qxhEAbz0J710t6IaSvbsX
Since this is not really an advantage so far, hence I have questions:

If I get this correctly:

The Slider moves and takes the Hammer back to zero.
Then the Slider goes back to zero as well?
When the Hammer moves it gets a) instantly reconnected with the Slider, or b) becomes reconnected with the Slider at 100%
[for b)The Slider is preferably set to 0% then, otherwise, there is a jump.]

I assume b) is the answer.

If so, the following will give you that:

Let me know if you need something else, I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers

Thanks Dr. Sassi, this is close.

Your example B is closer to what I am looking for. When the Slide moves back, it essentially pushes the Hammer back to 0%.
Please take a look at the updated scene file. I added some additional xpresso into the first tag to control the objects.

You can see when the Slide moves back, it intersects with the Hammer. Is there any way to add a spline curve to this so that it doesn’t intersect when pushing the Hammer back?

Hi Imran,

Thanks for the files so far!

Here is a screenshot, and the file with the requested curve.
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/RldLlrs5m9iA1bym079AjfrzTpX9zPS8fufN9aVXYRn

In the screenshot, you can see how I have set up this curve. I moved the slider to, e.g., 40%, and then adjusted a point in the Range Mapper “curve” at 0.4. I locked the x value, so it is easier to slide that point up and down. If the steps of 0.1 each time were too large, I placed a step between those.

All the best

You’re very welcome, Imran.

Let me know if there is anything else.

As a side note, a while ago, we had a similar theme here on Cineversity, and we solved this with Animation Clips.

My best wishes for your project.
