this is a suggestion for a cineversity-tutorial about doing complicated animations with the motion_system in c4d r21+
(and combining these with additional keyframe-animation).

Thanks, 4be.a, for the suggestion.

Perhaps this helps already.

The key is in the Absolute and relative layers.
https://help.maxon.net/us/index.html#MT_LAYER-OBASELIST

Besides, you can copy an animation clip, and it has all the keyframes in it. When you [right mouse] click on the clip, you can open it in the timeline. This allows you to make adjustments, and they stay in sync when you move the clip. Again, do that only with a copy of the clip.)

All the best, stay safe, stay healthy.

Hi 4be.a,

Yes, the information is pretty much the same, previous animations get wrapped in clips. Then the animation can be edited like a movie.

The dynamic question is answered here:
https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/animation_techniques_for_teams/animation_techniques_for_teams_preparation_part_02_section_a

The used naming convention indicates here, that is, a systematic tutorial series, and build upon each other (kind of). Just pick one part out might not allow for a full impact.
Start here:
https://www.cineversity.com/vidplaylist/animation_techniques_for_teams/animation_techniques_for_teams_part_01_course

This is part of a more extended series, which takes the Motion Clip System into Motion graphics. The key is here, to design a fixed hierarchy (no changes later!), that contains all parts for the project.

Enjoy

Hi 4be.a,

Have you replicated the complete content of these clips in Cinema 4D, and is that working for you flawlessly? So people know that it works nicely.

I typically do not comment on 3rd party material, for various reasons, mainly to stay neutral.

Enjoy.

no, i didn`t replicated the content, just tried to understand the motionsystem….

also i tried to get a pose-library out of keyframed character-poses (rigged character) saved and exported as motionsource(motionclip, animation layers) to reimport certain poses on the same not animated character (motionclip, animation layers)

it didnt really worked properly (dont know if there is a certain way it has to be done or if there are some bugs)

truly hoping the whole motionsystem will be overhauled+simplified in upcoming releases….asap
maybe it soon will be possible to save different character-poses in the weight-tag where also the bind-pose is saved at the moment….....

Hi 4be.a,

I can’t see a question in your post. Please let me know if I miss something.

Since you seem to be not happy with the Motion System, please make your voice heard at Maxon:
https://www.maxon.net/en/support-center
The tickets that you can open for the Support have an option for suggestions. (Or use it to report problems, as you mentioned it.)

My best wishes.
