Node changes?

In the tutorial “Node-based Materials: Multiple Ways of Creating Randomness using Node-based Materials” a methodology for coloring clones using layers is demonstrated.  The tut utilizes a mograph node and a hash node.  However, these nodes do not seem to exist, at least as shown in the tutorial.

How would the effect be recreated with the nodes that remain?

I am using redshift version three, the most current version available.

Thanks,

Thom

Hi Thom,

The tutorial is based on Cinema 4D’s native Material Node System.

If you open a new Material> Manager> Create> Materials> New Node Material, you will find all these nodes discussed in the tutorial.

When you go to the Files button (below the tutorial), is this set up working?

Cheers

No, it is not.  I just checked again.  There is no Mograph, or Hash.  Where did they go?

Do these nodes vary by node space?  I’m using the Redshift 3.latest render engine and Reshift nodespace w/r21.

Best,

Thom

Hi Thom,

I was referring to the native [Standard/Physical] Cinema 4D Nodes. (Note that the ProRender version has also no Hash Node, but a MoGraph Node)
https://help.maxon.net/us/index.html#NET_MAXON_PATTERN_NODE_GENERATOR_HASH

I see that you have switched over to the newer design.

I checked the Redshift forum, and if I haven’t missed it, there is no discussion about the Hash Node.

I can’t find any mentioning of the Hash-Node in the RedShift> Cinema 4D> Manual
https://docs.redshift3d.com/display/RSDOCS/Cinema+4D+MoGraph

My best wishes

Hmm, well ok.  Let us see how this looks in the next release.

Thank you,

P.S.:

I got an email from the fantastic Redshift Support: He pointed to this part of the manual

https://docs.redshift3d.com/display/RSDOCS/Cinema+4D+MoGraph#Cinema4DMoGraph-RSGeomIDColor

So, it confirms my information from above. It needs to be set in the Redshift User Data.
