Hi.

Is Mograph bake-able?

I want to export the attached to Unity, and my understanding is that I’ll need to bake it and make an FBX.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Tom

p.s. I’m getting an mime error on the zip I want to attach. So here’s a dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9kzu16ljefpl4b2/grape plant test 2.zip?dl=0

Hi Tom,

Sorry about the mime alert, thanks so much for using DropBox, one of my favorites.

MoGraph has a cache option, based on a MoGraph Cache Tag that can be added to the Cloner, but my tests with your file (below) were done without caching.

have you tried this:
https://www.maxon.net/en-us/news/maxon-news/article/maxon-announces-cineware-by-maxon-plug-in-for-unity-technologies/
I have not checked your file along this, as I don’t know which version do you use.

When I export to FBX, I checked the Bake All Frames option, and I get all animations across, is that not working for you.

I also checked to first export it as Alembic (abc) and then re-imported it to Cinema 4D. After that, I exported it as FBX.

Please let me know if that works for you, or if I missed something in the Animation.

I will do more tests.

All the best

Thank you, Dr. Sassi!

The ‘Bake All Frames’ with Alembic seems to be the trick as an FBX export. It imported into Unity just fine. And now we have a real bridge between C4D and Unity. Seems like I asked the question right at the right time! (didn’t know about the plugin)

Stay healthy, and thanks again.

Thank you very much for the feedback, Tom.

I’m glad the pipeline works.

Stay happy and healthy as well.

Hello Dr. Sassi.

Hope you’re well and safe.

So, I’m not sure what’s happened, but now this pipeline isn’t working for me. I am clearly missing a step, but I can’t for the life of me, find it.

Tried to attach small stills, per the size limitations of posting, but it’s not letting me. The link has the C4D file and samples.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/zp790hqesjfbq3u/grape plant.zip?dl=0

One note about the C4D plug-in into Unity: apparently it runs code in the background that conflicts with our sharing platform. We have a bunch of devices networked and slowing down our FPS to an uncomfortable point in the headset. (makes folks nauseous)

It’s what we need to go the FBX route.

Thank you.

Again.

Hi Tom,

I’m exploring the scene for a while. The two (Grapes and Leaves) parts have different problems.
So far, I get “anything” it is via PLA. Which takes a lot of time, and creates super large files. PLA with a four-digit amount of frames doesn’t sound very usable in Unity.

The thought to suggest contacting Support frequently comes to my mind, but I’m not clear what it causes.

More later.

Cheers

Tom, Please check your PM, thanks.

I have set up the file separately. The Grapes, I was not able to get anything from it, so I have built it with MoGraph. Then Exported it. Please test these in your pipeline with Unity. Please note, it is only one Grape for now.

At the moment, I can’t tell more, as I need to streamline the process.  The CV_Smart_Export is for two+ hours working on 1000 frames. I let it run to the end, but that is a no-go for me. I was able to get things faster by building them up newly. Long story. wink

Any feedback is welcomed.

Cheers

I shall explore.

And it’s just so odd that I was able to export the first build of the plant without much hassle. Now, by simply changing the grape, something has gone wrong.

This whole issue came from simply decreasing the poly count of the grape for less overhead in Unity. (again, a shared VR experience)

Weird.

Stay healthy, and thanks again, Dr. Sassi.

Thanks Tom,

Yes, weird, as the Grape, besides non-planar polygons, has no problems.

It should work fine of course. But I see that some polygons explodes during start. I have to explore some scaling inside of the scene as well.

My best wishes
