Hi,

Using collision deformer… but not getting that much depth or elastic to get its shape….!
Have to use objects like laptop, airplane…!

Any other setting or any other way….?

Thanks.
Imran.

Hi Imran,

Thanks a lot for the file.

I have used in the past hour’s several methods, but I miss a little bit of input.

Is the result like a rubber skin, and the surface is more soft and smooth, or is it more like a vacuum skin, very tight?

My explorations are so far, Depth-map, Normal-map, Displacement baking, Volume.

Is that also animated or just a static image?
How many details does the “skin” show?

All the best

P.S.:

I think the best advice I can give, without really knowing what your final aesthetic needs, is this file:

Example

I tried polygon reduction of your model, but it didn’t work that nice.

I just drew a spline around the profile, and with the editable version, I pulled some points to get some details back.
This works and without any workarounds and tricks.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Hi Dr. Sassi,

Thanks for that, second option with collision deformer works well for me, it gives smooth surface. and it is static.

I tried new collision deformer by keeping the same setting but its cross the plane surface and in your it stretches more…. how….?

Thanks.
Imran.

Hi Imran,

Please share a scene file. Otherwise, it takes a long time to guess what you might have set up. With no guarantee to get it at all.

Think of the proxy model as a better information source. The larger each polygon will be, the less a point on the collision object will have to switch among other polygons. Which was the case in your previous file?

Switch the Smoothing Deformer off for any testing, it is faster, and you get better feedback about the Collision Deformer, to begin with.

Cheers

Thanks, Imran, for the file.

As a standard tip, I would like to share this option. I know that going through someone’s file is not a simple task. Often the total number of parameters in a project file tops the thousands, if not more. Which one is different?

The simple way I explore files, to see the difference is: Select the two objects of the same kind, here the Collision Deformer. Any entry that is the same will be shown. Any different entry is clearly marked as such. <<Multiple Values>>

Please have a look at the image below. It contains as well the answer.

Let me know if you have more questions, I’m happy to look into it.

Cheers
