Camera import to AE via Cineware

Hello

I’m having a strange problem in AE 2020 and R21, where when I import a C4d file into AE and extract the camera data, I’m only getting one keyframe, instead of the whole set of keyframes from the camera tracking.

I tried making a copy of the camera, putting it outside of the camera tracker and removing the restriction tag, but still same problem.

is this a known issue or could I be doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

I checked this with a standard camera animation, as well as with a freshly tracked scene. I get in each case all the keyframes needed.

Perhaps check this file:
https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/GgTgeIXT1K6U4bFMdpwYvU0jK2h3wvoPqNBCv4kyKGx

I can send you an upload link for your file.

Have you tried to save it as “Save Project for Cineware…”?

The only way I can get a problem (well, as expected) is when I use the aec save option and have the Frame Range set to “current frame”.

All the best

Hmm weird, I just tried save for Cineware…I wonder if has something to do with Cineware on Windows?  I’m working with someone who seems to have no issues on the mac.
To make things easier, I’ve put the C4d project with the track here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/1rtmoglxnbfpmfs/Prison_6_Simplified.c4d?dl=0

And this is the footage used

The “saved for Cineware” version is here

Thank you for looking into it!  Your help is always much appreciated

Hi Alex,

Thanks so much for the file, as this is something that shows all the settings. Yes, if I take the file as shared, I have the same problem.

If you check your frame range in the Cinema 4D project and compare those with the Ae range, you will see that something is off. It seems the Ae numbers are the same times two.

Which lead me to check the FPS entries (plural!). There is one in the Project Setting and one in the Render Settings: Yours showed 30 [project] and 60 [render settings].

So, I adjusted the Attribute Manager> Mode> Project Settings to 60 and saved it newly (with a 60-60 name extension to be sure).

This file then showed the same frame numbers in Cinema 4D as well as in Ae. Now the keyframes in Ae line up as you would like to have them (I have to guess here, as I do not have the footage, but that will be a quick check for you).

All the best
