Apply Auto Keying Only for Objects That Is Already Keyed

Hi,

Is there a way to apply auto key only for objects that is already keyed?
By default, if there is already an animation in the scene, auto key is applied even though an object is not keyed.
For now, the only way I can circumvent is to manually add a keyframe selection to every object, which I have no time to do so.

You can see an illustration of the problem here:

Is there a way around this?

Thank you

Hi Ben,

There is no one-click option.

However, you can set the Timeline [TL] to show only automated (View> Automatic Mode), which allows then to select all the objects in the TL.
If the settings are bidirectional, the selection will show up in the Object Manager.
From there, you can create a Selection Object, or drag the active objects in an existing one.
With this Selection Object, you can limit the Auto keying.

I hope that it is fast enough.

All the best

Hi Dr. Sassi,

Thanks for the detailed screenshot instruction.
I’ll keep it in mind in future tasks but I don’t think it fits on my current situtation.
The catch is I have to add objects to selection object (for new obejcts) or turn off auto key for selection objects for other objects to be keyed.

Anyhow, thanks for the response.

You’re very welcome, Ben, thanks for the reply.

Simply copy the Selection object and change the list in the new one. Rename those wisely. Objects can be in many Selection Objects, so you have the option to store and go back and fore.

Your explanation is now different from before: that only keyframed objects should receive new keyframes.

Besides, the Layer Browser allows to lock objects so that they can be changed; if there is no change, then AutoKeyframe is not working.

Cheers

No worries.
I just really want to have “Auto Keying Only for Objects That Is Already Keyed” like it does in Maya and Blender. I don’t have to worry about turning of auto keying and turning it back on, which I currently do in Cinema4D.

Anyway, thanks for the response.
